Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has stated that the world is on the brink of a major war, but according to him, no one is doing anything to prevent it, reports infohub.kz.
The politician made this statement in a podcast with Matthias Doepfner, CEO of media conglomerate Axel Springer.
"I think we are on the brink of a major war. That is why I hoped someone would already take steps to avoid it. But that has not happened, and it will not happen in the near future. So, we are on the threshold of something much more serious," Vucic said.
The Serbian leader believes that in the next five years, leading countries will strive for greater self-sufficiency and less external dependence. According to Vucic, the world will retain two main centers of power: the US and China. The third should be the European Union, but the politician is not sure whether Europe will manage to establish itself in that role. The fourth pillar, according to his forecasts, will be Russia, India, and other major regional powers.
Furthermore, according to the Serbian leader, a new alliance of Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia is already emerging.
"This will create a completely different balance of power and atmosphere worldwide. And if you ask me what it will look like in five years, I would say we will still be in the process of defining these contours, but with more destructive means than today," the Serbian president believes.
Recall that recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Serbia for the first time in seven years since his election victory in 2019. Hosting him, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reiterated that Serbia supports Ukraine's territorial integrity but again refused to directly condemn Russian aggression or promise to join sanctions against Russia. Also, at the end of last week, it became known that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan had concluded a pact to create a military alliance.
