Serik Shapkenov has been dismissed from his position as governor of the Atyrau region, a post he had held since April 2022, reports infohub.kz.
By decree of the head of state, Serik Zhanbulovich Shapkenov was relieved of his duties as governor of the Atyrau region, according to the official Telegram channel of the press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Earlier reports indicated that a meeting of deputies of the maslikhats will be held on July 17 of this year to give consent for the appointment of a new regional governor.
Serik Shapkenov had led the Atyrau region since April 2022.
