Seven new schools have opened in the Atyrau region for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. Students have begun classes in modern educational institutions located in the regional center, as well as in the Kurmangazy and Zhylyoi districts, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Atyrau regional administration, on September 1, the first bells rang at a new school for 300 students in the village of Damba, as well as at two schools with 600 places each in the villages of Koktem and Yerkinkala-2.
Under the national project "Keleshek Mektepleri," two schools with 600 places each were commissioned in the villages of Kurmangazy and Akkol in the Kurmangazy district, as well as a school for 1,200 students in the city of Kulsary, Zhylyoi district.
In the city of Atyrau, Caspian BINOM School, designed for 2,000 students, welcomed its first pupils. The new schools are equipped with modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports and assembly halls, and canteens. The "Keleshek Mektepleri" also feature STEM, robotics, and IT classrooms, as well as creative workshops.
Secondary school No. 9 named after Shokan Ualikhanov has reopened after major renovations. The building, designed for 1,176 students, has fully updated classrooms and modern equipment installed.
This year, more than 155,000 students began the new academic year in the Atyrau region. About 15,000 of them crossed the school threshold for the first time.
The region continues to work on developing educational infrastructure. By the end of the year, two more educational facilities and one art school are planned to be commissioned. Currently, 14 schools are under construction in the region.
