Shairbek Tashiev, a former member of the Jogorku Kenesh and brother of Kyrgyzstan's ex-head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), has been released on bail after reimbursing the bulk of the damage, according to infohub.kz.
The Interior Ministry continues to investigate a criminal case opened on charges of corruption. According to investigators, officials of Kyrgyzneftegaz OJSC and Kyrgyz Petroleum Company CJSC organized a corrupt scheme involving the illegal sale of fuel and lubricants.
The illegal actions caused damage to the state exceeding 4.1 billion soms. During the investigation, the defendant Tashiev compensated the majority of the damage. As a result, the court changed his pre-trial detention to house arrest.
Tashiev's parliamentary powers were terminated early. On April 1, he was detained in connection with the corruption case involving Kyrgyzneftegaz.
