A court in the Karaganda region has sentenced a man who threatened to blow up a residential building with a gas cylinder. The incident occurred on September 2, when an intoxicated resident of Shakhtinsk frightened his neighbors, and then, when police arrived, refused to open the door and began to use obscene language, reports infohub.kz.
Due to the threat of an explosion, emergency services were called to the scene, ready to evacuate residents if necessary. However, after some time, the man opened the door himself, but resisted arrest by disobeying police orders.
No residents were injured in the incident. In court, the man's guilt was confirmed by an administrative offense report, witness testimony, and other case materials. The court recognized his remorse as a mitigating circumstance.
"Under Part 2 of Article 434 of the Administrative Code, he was sentenced to 15 days of arrest for petty hooliganism, and under Part 1 of Article 667, an additional day for disobeying lawful police orders. The final punishment was 16 days of administrative arrest," the press service of the Shakhtinsk city court reported.
Additionally, for three months, the man is subject to special behavioral requirements: he is prohibited from consuming alcohol, narcotic, and psychotropic substances, and he must report to the Shakhtinsk police department three times a month for preventive talks.
The court ruling has not yet entered into legal force. Earlier, Kursiv reported a similar case where a Karaganda resident tore off a gas pipe and threatened to blow up a multi-story building.
