Ordabasy goalkeeper Bekhan Shayzada shared his thoughts on the team's 3-1 victory over Yelimay in the 18th round of the Kazakhstan Premier League, noting that the title race leaves no room for complacency even after key wins, reports infohub.kz.
"Every game is tough for us because when you're fighting for the championship, the cost of a mistake is huge. So every match is like a final now. As for the new players, I think they are already contributing with accurate passes and goals. Yelimay played in European competitions, so they were well-prepared for us. We have a game against Kairat coming up, and we will be aiming for victory," Shayzada said in an interview with Sports24.kz.
The Shymkent club defeated the Semey side 3-1 on Wednesday, reclaiming the top spot in the standings and moving back ahead of Kairat. Goals for Ordabasy came from Bjorn Johnsen, Guy-Marcelin Kilama, and Elkhan Astanov, who converted a penalty.
A day earlier, Kairat had temporarily taken first place after beating Atyrau 3-1. The match, held in Turkistan, saw Edmilson score a brace, with another goal coming from an own goal by Franjo Prce.
In the next round, Ordabasy will face Kairat away. The match in Almaty could have a direct impact on the standings in the upper part of the KPL table.
