The Shelek-1 wind farm in the Almaty region, operated by Energia Semirechya, has posted its first net profit since launch. For 2025, net income reached 2.22 billion tenge, compared with a loss of 3.28 billion tenge a year earlier, according to infohub.kz.
According to the audited financial statements, revenue rose to 6.43 billion tenge from 6.28 billion tenge in 2024. Gross profit increased from 3.87 billion to 4.09 billion tenge.
A key factor behind the improved financial performance was a positive exchange rate difference. In 2024, the company incurred a loss of 4.09 billion tenge from currency revaluation, while in 2025 this item brought in income of 1.05 billion tenge.
Profit before tax reached 2.55 billion tenge, against a loss of 3.28 billion tenge a year earlier. After corporate income tax, net profit stood at 2.22 billion tenge.
The company's financial expenses remain significant, although they have decreased: in 2025 they amounted to 1.97 billion tenge, compared with 2.05 billion tenge in the previous year.
Earlier it was reported that Energia Semirechya posted a loss of 3.28 billion tenge for 2024. For three years after the wind farm's launch, the company remained unprofitable, mainly due to exchange rate differences.
As of the end of 2025, 75% of the company's shares are owned by two subsidiaries of China's Power Construction Corporation of China Limited. The remaining 25% is controlled by Qazaq Green Power PLC, part of Samruk-Energo.
The Shelek-1 wind farm, with a capacity of 60 MW, is located in the Enbekshikazakh district of the Almaty region. The project, worth 37.4 billion tenge, includes 24 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each.
