Shelley Fabares, the American actress and singer known for her roles in the sitcoms 'Coach' and 'The Donna Reed Show', as well as for her hit song 'Johnny Angel', has died in Los Angeles at the age of 82, according to infohub.kz.
Her death was announced by a family representative. Fabares passed away at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by loved ones.
Fabares began her career as a child, but she gained widespread fame for her role as Mary Stone in the sitcom 'The Donna Reed Show' in the late 1950s. It was there that she first performed 'Johnny Angel', which climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over a million copies.
Later, she appeared alongside Elvis Presley in three films, including 'Girl Happy' and 'Clambake'. In 1989, Fabares landed the role of Christine Nelson in the popular sitcom 'Coach', for which she was nominated for an Emmy Award twice.
In recent years, Fabares battled liver disease and underwent a successful organ transplant in 2000. She is survived by her husband, actor and producer Mike Farrell, to whom she was married for over 40 years.
