Sherkhan Aymakhan, the defendant in the murder of Nurai Serikbai, has claimed that he was pressured by orderlies at a medical facility, reports infohub.kz.
According to the agency, a forensic psychiatric expert from the Almaty Institute of Forensic Examinations, Temirlan Seitek, was interrogated today. He stated that despite diagnoses in the medical record, the defendant was fully aware of his actions at the time of the crime. He explained that experts were provided with two volumes of the criminal case and a disc with a video recording of one of the interrogations. Previous testimony was contained in written protocols.
However, Sherkhan Aymakhan claimed that the video recording given to the experts was allegedly made under pressure after his return from Almaty to Shymkent. He also asserted that during his stay in the republican psychiatric hospital in Aktas, he faced pressure and mockery from the staff.
"The orderlies said: 'Come back, or we'll carry your corpse out of here.' I believe there was no proper examination. While you were asking questions, other staff were just drinking tea. I disagree with this conclusion," said Sherkhan Aymakhan.
In response to these complaints, the expert said that the conclusions were based on an objective examination, and claims of pressure in the hospital are within the competence of investigative authorities.
Recall that the tragedy occurred on January 11 in Shymkent. Sherkhan Aymakhan is on trial for murder, stalking, and coercion into marriage.
The prosecutor read the indictment with details of the crime. According to the investigation, Nurai Serikbai was stabbed 35 times.
Additionally, the family of the murdered Nurai Serikbai demanded over 10 billion tenge in compensation for material and moral damages from the defendant.
