In Zhambyl Region, a dispute over compensation for damage caused by an apartment flooding ended in a court-ordered reconciliation: the defendant agreed to pay 1.6 million tenge instead of the more than 2.5 million tenge originally claimed, infohub.kz reports.

According to the official Telegram channel of the courts of Zhambyl Region, the Shu District Court reconciled the parties in a dispute between two female citizens over compensation for damage caused by an apartment flooding.

In April 2026, the plaintiff's apartment, located in the city of Shu, was flooded. The incident damaged linoleum, ceilings and a bed, and doors in 5 rooms stopped closing. In addition, a musty smell lingered in the apartment, and short-circuiting caused problems with the electricity supply.

According to an assessment report, the damage amounted to more than 2.5 million tenge. The defendant ignored the pre-trial claims, and the plaintiff went to court to protect her rights.

In court, the parties reached an agreement through judicial mediation with the participation of a reconciliation judge.

Under the terms of the agreement, the defendant undertook to pay the plaintiff 1 million tenge immediately, with the remaining 600,000 to be paid in monthly installments of 50,000 tenge starting in October 2026 until the debt is fully repaid. The plaintiff, in turn, withdrew her original claims.

The agreement also provides that if the defendant fails to fulfill her obligations, the plaintiff has the right to apply to the court for a writ of execution to recover 1.6 million tenge.

By a court ruling, the agreement was approved, the proceedings were terminated, and the plaintiff was refunded the state fee of 30,000 tenge.

The ruling has entered into legal force.
