In Shymkent, the owner of a banquet hall has been held administratively liable after the death of a 13-year-old teenager who worked at the venue. During an inspection, police established that the minor, despite his age, was employed at the establishment, reports infohub.kz.

Law enforcement conducted an investigation into the circumstances of the child's death. As it turned out, the teenager was ill.

"It was established that the teenager's death occurred due to his illness. In addition, based on violations of labor legislation identified during the inspection, the owner of the banquet hall has been held administratively liable," the Shymkent police department said.

According to the publication, the boy's parents did not file complaints with the city labor inspectorate.

In Kazakhstan, schoolchildren aged 14 and older may work in their free time if the work does not harm their health or interfere with their studies. An employment contract must be signed by one of the parents or another legal representative together with the teenager.

For children under 14, separate exceptions are provided — participation in filming, theatrical performances, concerts, and circus shows.
