A fire broke out in Shymkent, with flames completely engulfing the roof of a canteen attached to a cafe in the Abai district on Argynbekov Street. Rescuers managed to carry a 50-liter oxygen cylinder out of the building and prevented the fire from spreading to the neighboring 200-square-meter cafe, infohub.kz reports.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a report of a fire in a building attached to a cafe was received at Shymkent's 112 emergency line.
"Emergency Situations Ministry forces were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the roof of the adjacent canteen was fully engulfed in flames. Rescuers conducted reconnaissance and began extinguishing the fire," the ministry said.
During the firefighting effort, a 50-liter oxygen cylinder was carried out of the building to a safe location. Thanks to the rescuers' timely actions, the spread of the fire was prevented and the 200-square-meter cafe building was saved from the flames.
The fire was extinguished over an area of 100 square meters. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is being determined.
"It is strictly prohibited to attempt to extinguish a fire with water on your own if electrical installations are energized and the power has not been shut off. This poses a serious danger to human life. If you discover a fire, immediately report it by calling 112," the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded.
