A scheme to illegally obtain social benefits worth 193.8 million tenge has been uncovered and brought to trial in Shymkent, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the supervisory authority, the Shymkent prosecutor's office established that the benefits were processed through the fictitious employment of 43 pregnant women. The total damage in the case amounted to 193.8 million tenge.
"The women were registered as employees of individual entrepreneurs, although they did not actually work there. Using the entrepreneurs' electronic digital signatures, the organizer of the scheme transferred pension contributions for previous periods and prepared documents for the assignment of social benefits," the supervisory authority explained.
According to the Shymkent prosecutor's office, after receiving the funds, the previously transferred pension contributions were returned under the pretext of erroneous crediting. Thus, fictitious employment information became the basis for illegally obtaining money from the state social insurance fund.
By court verdict, the defendant was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (fraud) and sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment. The serving of the sentence was deferred for 3 years with the application of Article 74 of the Criminal Code.
