A resident of Shymkent has been sentenced to 7 days of administrative arrest for a comment posted on TikTok, in a ruling handed down by the city's specialized interdistrict court for administrative offenses, infohub.kz reports.

According to the Shymkent courts' Telegram channel, the incident occurred on October 2, when the man wrote a comment on TikTok that affected the honor and dignity of citizens. The court found that he had thereby shown disrespect for others and disrupted public order.

The case was heard under Part 1 of Article 434 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, "Petty Hooliganism."

"The offender's guilt is confirmed by the administrative offense report and other case materials. At the court hearing, the offender admitted his guilt and asked for a milder punishment," the court said.

In imposing the sentence, the court took into account the admission of guilt, as well as the fact that the offender had not previously been held administratively liable.

"Taking into account the circumstances of the case and the identity of the offender, the court found D. guilty of committing an administrative offense and sentenced him to administrative arrest for a period of 7 days," the statement said.

As of the time of publication, the court's ruling had not entered into legal force.
