Siemens Vice President for Commercial and Financial Affairs Bernd Ulbricht told President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev at a meeting that the company is ready to take part in building data center infrastructure in the republic, and also proposed technological solutions for modernizing power grids, digitalization, automation and water supply, the website infohub.kz reports.
The meeting took place at the start of the second day of the head of state's official visit to Germany.
Toqaev called Siemens an important partner for Kazakhstan. According to him, the company's key areas of work — industrial digitalization, electrification, mobility and smart infrastructure — are directly linked to the priorities of modernizing the country's economy.
The president spoke about systemic measures for the digital transformation of the real sectors of the economy and welcomed a joint project between Siemens and Kazakhstan's Silk Road Electronics to modernize equipment at the Qarmet metallurgical plant.
Toqaev stressed that Kazakhstan is interested not only in purchasing advanced equipment, but also in creating manufacturing, engineering and service capacities. According to him, Siemens' expertise and technological innovations could be useful for renewing the energy and utilities sectors, as well as improving environmental monitoring.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation with Siemens Healthineers in the field of medical technology.
Ulbricht thanked the president for supporting the corporation's initiatives. He noted that over 30 years of working in the Kazakh market, Siemens has taken part in implementing a number of industrial projects, and confirmed the company's interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that at a briefing in Germany, Toqaev announced that the countries had reached new strategic agreements. The president noted that the next task is to implement them, and invited German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan in 2027.
Kursiv also reported on Toqaev's talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. In 2025, trade between the countries reached $4.5 billion, while the total inflow of German investment into Kazakhstan over 20 years amounted to $8 billion. Following the talks, the presidents adopted a joint declaration, and Steinmeier was awarded the Altyn Qyran order.
