Six climbers have died on Mount Elbrus over two days, with victims including tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and a Russian national, reports infohub.kz.
A group of seven climbers from Bosnia and Herzegovina began their ascent on July 24. By the evening of July 25, due to worsening weather, the group lost their way.
One member descended and reported that two climbers fell ill at an altitude of 5,100 meters and died. Their bodies were later found and evacuated.
Another survivor from Bosnia and Herzegovina was also located. Shortly after, rescuers discovered the bodies of the remaining three members of the group, leaving only two survivors out of seven.
In a separate incident, a climber from another group died during an ascent. That group came from the Stavropol Krai and Tula Oblast regions.
