Owners of smart TVs are increasingly turning to AI agents to restore their devices to their former simplicity and rid them of intrusive features, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to TechCrunch, Smart TV users have begun deploying AI agents, including Claude Code, to block built-in advertising, disable data-tracking mechanisms and clear pre-installed software from their interfaces. Enthusiasts are writing custom scripts that turn cluttered operating systems into minimalist screens free of unnecessary functions.

The main driver of the new trend is frustration with intrusive ad banners, the collection of personal information and the sluggish performance of standard interfaces built on Android TV and other platforms. Using plain-language prompts, device owners are replacing built-in launchers with third-party alternatives such as ATV Launcher, Projectivity Launcher or FLauncher, in some cases removing more than two dozen unwanted apps.

Analysts believe the widespread use of so-called "vibe coding" to clean up interfaces could deal a significant blow to the advertising business of television manufacturers. Corporations earn substantial revenue not only from selling hardware but also from showing ads and collecting user data, so growing interest in disabling these systems could shift the balance of power in the home electronics market.
