Many users continue to play games, watch videos, or scroll through social media while their phone is connected to a power adapter. Experts warn that this behavior puts extra strain on the battery. The main enemy of lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries is excessive heat. The charging process itself generates high temperatures, and running resource-intensive apps or games simultaneously adds more heat from the processor and display.
Excessive heat leads to accelerated degradation of the chemical components inside the battery. Over time, this results in a reduced maximum capacity and shorter battery life. Additionally, modern smartphones are equipped with thermal management systems: when the temperature rises critically, the device automatically reduces charging speed and slows down the processor.
To extend battery lifespan, it is recommended to avoid heavy tasks while charging and to remove the case if the device gets too hot.
