In the village of Botamoynak, Zhambyl Region, authorities are investigating the death of 15-year-old schoolboy Miyatbek Yerseit, who died after being struck in the chest. The suspect, a 16-year-old teenager, has been placed in pre-trial detention, infohub.kz reports.
The tragedy occurred on the evening of last Friday. Miyatbek Yerseit went to a football field, and some time later his family was informed that the teenager had been beaten.
According to his father, when he arrived at the scene, his son was already lying unconscious.
"When I ran here, my child was lying right here. His head was thrown back like this. His body was still warm. I picked him up, tried to bring him back to consciousness. And then the ambulance arrived, and they said: 'It's all over,'" said the father of the deceased, Yertai Konysbayev.
The father believes his son fell victim to hazing among teenagers. Although he insists that village boys had not previously engaged in brawls. But on that fateful day, according to the man, several other children were also injured. Villagers confirm this but are afraid to speak openly. According to locals, young people often gather at this very spot. Here, older boys allegedly discipline the younger ones. It was also here that Miyatbek Yerseit received a blow to the chest, from which he lost consciousness almost immediately.
"They beat everyone in a row, beat them — those didn't fall. My son was standing last. He was quietly looking at his phone. He was a thin, tall, and slender boy. When he fell from the blow, they thought he had just fainted. They tried to sit him up, lift him. Then they carried him into the light, called an ambulance, and ran away," said the father of the deceased, Yertai Konysbayev.
However, no one officially confirms the relatives' words. The education department only clarified that the incident occurred outside school hours.
"We conduct preventive work with both teenagers and parents. Currently, raid activities are being carried out in the morning and evening hours. We held a parent meeting and talked with children during class hours. This work is carried out on an ongoing basis with class teachers, police officers, and juvenile affairs inspectors," emphasized the head of the education department of Baizak District, Kuralai Oskembekova.
It turned out that the deceased and the attacker knew each other. They studied at the same lyceum, and their families live literally next door. Miyatbek was buried by the whole village. Afterwards, elders flocked to the house.
"After the burial, everyone came to us, elders came, their relatives. They all asked for forgiveness. We forgave them. He is a good guy, we studied at the same school. Whenever he saw us, he greeted us. His father came to us, asked for forgiveness. We forgave, what can you do..." said the mother of the deceased, Aigul Abzaliyeva.
Nevertheless, the forgiven 16-year-old attacker is now in pre-trial detention. Police have opened a criminal case under the article "Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death by negligence."
