Sony Pictures is celebrating the massive success of the action film "Spider-Man: New Day." The blockbuster, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, made history by earning $360 million in its opening weekend in the U.S. The film surpassed the record set by "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, marking the biggest debut in North America of all time. The cast also includes Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Rothman admitted that there have been no concrete talks about Holland returning for a fifth film. "No, not in any specific sense—only as a hope," the executive said.
Earlier, at the film's premiere, Holland stated he would gladly reprise his role. Rothman emphasized that these words thrilled him: "When I heard that from Tom, I was jumping for joy. Hope springs eternal, and I really hope it happens."
