The Soyuz MS-28 descent module landed near Zhezkazgan on July 27, 2026, returning two Roscosmos cosmonauts, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikaev, and NASA astronaut Christopher Williams to Earth, according to the website infohub.kz.
The landing occurred at 15:27 Astana time. Roscosmos reported that "the deorbit and descent to Earth went according to plan."
Before the return, the spacecraft undocked from the Rassvet module of the International Space Station at 12:03 Astana time. At 14:32, the braking engine was fired for deorbit. After the separation of compartments, the descent module entered the dense atmosphere and deployed its main parachute, ensuring a soft landing.
Initially, the landing was planned 147 kilometers southeast of Zhezkazgan, but the actual touchdown occurred near the city.
