In the mountains near Almaty, rescuers came to the aid of a 16-year-old girl who twisted her ankle at Shukur waterfall and could not continue the descent on her own, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the incident occurred in the Bostandyk district at an altitude of about 2,650 meters. The girl was injured and could not walk further, so rescuers were needed.
Rescuers from the Republican Rescue Service "Barys" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations set out to the location using the provided coordinates. Upon reaching the injured girl, they provided first aid and organized a safe descent.
Afterwards, the girl was escorted down to where her parents were waiting. There, she was handed over to an ambulance crew.
Another similar incident occurred in the mountains of Almaty Region. In the Karasay district near the "Terra" clearing at an altitude of 2,600 meters, rescuers from the Almaty City Monitoring and Operational Response Center assisted a citizen born in 2006.
While descending the mountain, the young man also twisted his ankle and could not continue on his own. Rescuers lowered him to Prokhodnoye gorge and handed him over to a team from the Disaster Medicine Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, after which the injured person was taken to a city hospital.
