In the Zhambyl region, police conducted a special operation against drug trafficking, resulting in the seizure of about 600 kilograms of narcotic substances and the detention of three suspects, reports infohub.kz.
According to the information media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, officers of the drug control department of the Zhambyl regional police department, together with colleagues from the transport police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, servicemen of the special purpose detachment "Berkut" of military unit No. 5513, and an inspector-cynologist of the cynological center of the regional police department, coordinated by the regional prosecutor's office, conducted operational-search activities.
A service dog named Letta was involved in the search for narcotic drugs.
As a result of the operational activities, in a sandy area about 10 kilometers from the village of Konaeva, police detained three men who, according to preliminary data, were engaged in the illegal collection of narcotic plants on an especially large scale. During the inspection of the territory, police seized 595 kilograms and 440 grams of narcotic substances and plants classified as narcotic. In addition, three sickles were seized that could have been used for collecting plants.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated on this fact. The suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility.
