Sylvester Stallone has revealed details of a long-ago conflict with Richard Gere that occurred back in 1974. According to People, the 79-year-old actor recalled that tension between him and his colleague arose during rehearsals for the film "The Lords of Flatbush," reports infohub.kz.
According to Stallone, Gere landed one of the lead roles, but from the very beginning he was overly provocative and never dropped character, even during breaks in filming.
The climax came during a lunch break: the scuffle took place right in a car. Gere sat in the back seat with a greasy piece of chicken, and Stallone warned him that he would stain his trousers. When grease indeed dripped from the chicken, Stallone elbowed Gere in the head and pushed him out of the car.
After that incident, the director decided to replace the actor — the role ultimately went to Perry King. Stallone also noted that Gere still blames him for the rumor about the gerbil story, though Sylvester himself denies any involvement in that gossip.
