Russian singer Stas Mikhaylov, in a podcast with Emin Agalarov, recounted how he earned money before rising to fame. According to him, even before his musical success, he showed remarkable entrepreneurial skills, reports infohub.kz.
The artist admitted that his first earnings came from street vending. "I'm such an active person that if I hadn't gone into music back then, I would have built a business. First, I started with cassettes. Street vending. I was the first to come up with a plastic table in Sochi; I paid a hundred rubles for it. Thanks to my slight understanding of music, I knew that recording all artists wasn't worth it—they wouldn't sell. I thought about what would sell. I'd record a hundred cassettes a night, load the table into my dad's Volga, a Vega tape recorder, and set up in the middle of Sochi near the Main Post Office... The whole flow went through me; I didn't have to wait for people to come to the studio. By lunchtime, I'd sell 70-80 cassettes," he shared.
