Police in the Akmola Region have detained a man suspected of stealing his former wife's car, reports the website infohub.kz.
The incident took place in Stepnogorsk. According to police, after drinking alcohol, the man recalled he still had keys to his ex-wife's car. Assuming the vehicle was at its usual parking spot, he went there and unlawfully took possession of a Renault Scenic, authorities said.
A short time later, the Stepnogorsk police department received a report of a stolen vehicle.
Furthermore, the stolen car was involved in an accident, and the driver fled the scene.
As a result of search operations, police located the man, arrested him, and took him to the police station for further investigation. A pre-trial investigation has been launched. The circumstances of the incident are being established.
