Prosecutors in Stepnogorsk uncovered serious violations in the registration of citizens in need of housing during an audit of compliance with housing legislation, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the supervisory authority's official website, the inspection covered the socially vulnerable population category. A total of 1,095 citizens are on the waiting list for housing.
The audit identified 9 deceased individuals who had remained on the list since 2023. In addition, 14 people who had left the city and lost the grounds for remaining on the housing register were identified.
Prosecutors also established that individuals who owned real estate were on the waiting list. As a result of the measures taken, these citizens were removed from the list of applicants.
In addition, the supervisory authority recorded that a vacated residential premises had gone unused, remaining effectively empty for a long time despite a significant number of citizens in need of housing.
As a result of the prosecutors' intervention, the apartment was handed over for further distribution among those on the waiting list. The official responsible for the violations was held accountable.
