On July 21, weather conditions in Kazakhstan will sharply deteriorate as a northwest cyclone brings thunderstorms, heavy downpours, hail, squally winds, and dust storms to most of the country. A storm warning has been issued nationwide, reports the website infohub.kz.
Heavy rain with thunderstorms and hail is expected in the north, center, and south. Winds will strengthen almost everywhere, with dust storms possible in southern and southwestern regions. Fog is forecast in some northern areas overnight and in the morning.
However, the heat will persist. Temperatures will reach up to +35°C in the Atyrau region and the western and southern parts of the West Kazakhstan region. In the Almaty, East Kazakhstan, and Abai regions, temperatures will range from +35°C to +38°C, up to +39°C in the Zhetysu region, and up to +38°C in the Mangystau region. The highest temperatures, up to +41°C, are forecast for southern East Kazakhstan and the Abai region.
Forecasters also warn of high and extreme fire danger in several regions. The most critical situation is expected in the Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Zhetysu regions, as well as in parts of the Karaganda, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Aktobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Mangystau, Ulytau, and Abai regions.
The heaviest precipitation is expected in the Akmola, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Abai, and Ulytau regions. These areas will see heavy downpours, hail, squalls, and wind gusts of up to 23–28 m/s.
In Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Petropavlovsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Aktobe, Zhezkazgan, Taraz, Shymkent, and other cities, rain with thunderstorms, occasional hail, and strengthening winds are also expected.
In the south and southwest, weather will be contrasting: the Kyzylorda, Turkestan, and Mangystau regions will experience both heat and strong winds with dust storms.
