Weather in Kazakhstan on July 28 will be sharply contrasting, with some regions hit by heavy rain, hail, and squalls while others endure extreme heat up to 47°C, infohub.kz reports.
According to Kazhydromet, storm warnings are in effect in most regions. Heavy rainfall is expected in the east, and winds are forecast to strengthen nationwide. Dust storms are possible in the south and southwest, while fog is likely in northern, central, and eastern regions at night and in the morning.
The most extreme heat will be in Mangystau Region, where daytime temperatures will reach 43–47°C. In Atyrau Region, southern Kostanay Region, and western and southern Aktobe Region, temperatures will hit 40–42°C. Similarly, 40–42°C is expected in Kyzylorda and Turkistan regions. In West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Ulytau regions, thermometers will show 35–38°C.
Due to the heat, high and extreme fire danger persists in several regions. The most critical situation is forecast in Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Atyrau, and Turkistan regions, as well as in parts of Almaty, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Mangystau, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Akmola, Jetisu, Abai, Ulytau, and West Kazakhstan regions.
In Astana, rain, thunderstorms, hail, and a dust storm are expected on July 28. Northerly and northwesterly gusts will reach 15–20 m/s. Almaty remains under extreme fire danger. In the mountainous areas of the city and Almaty Region, brief rain and thunderstorms are possible during the day, with winds strengthening to 15–20 m/s.
Severe thunderstorms with hail and squalls are also forecast in Akmola, Karaganda, North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, and Abai regions.
Earlier, forecasters warned that due to the collision of warm and cold air masses, unstable weather, heavy precipitation, and heat are expected in Kazakhstan over the next three days.
