Rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected across many regions of Kazakhstan on September 18: heavy rain is forecast in the north of the country, while wind gusts in some areas will reach 25 meters per second, reports infohub.kz.

A storm warning has been issued for most regions of the country. The weather will be driven by a northwestern cyclone with atmospheric fronts. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the North Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Mangystau, Atyrau and West Kazakhstan regions, as well as the Ulytau region.

The strongest winds are forecast in the North Kazakhstan region. In the north, east and south of the region, gusts will reach 15-20 meters per second, and during the day in the east and south they will at times reach 25 meters per second. In the Kostanay region, winds will strengthen to 15-20 meters per second.

In the Aktobe region, rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day, with wind gusts of 15-18 meters per second. A dust storm is possible in the west of the Turkistan region, where winds will strengthen to 15-20 meters per second.

Rain and thunderstorms will also occur in the east and south of the Atyrau region, and in the north and east of the Mangystau region. Fog is expected at night and in the morning in a number of western and northern regions.

In the Zhetisu region, northeasterly wind gusts near the Alakol lakes will reach 15-20 meters per second during the day. In the mountainous areas of the Zhambyl region, winds will also strengthen to 15-20 meters per second.

In the east of the country, frosts down to 2 degrees on the soil surface are possible at night in mountainous areas.

In the south, southeast and east of Kazakhstan, generally dry weather is expected.

At the same time, high or extreme fire danger persists in many regions. High fire danger is expected in Astana on September 18, the high level also persists in Almaty, while extreme fire danger is in effect in Konaev, Shymkent, Turkistan and a number of regional centers.
