A storm warning has been issued for 14 regions of Kazakhstan on October 9: according to Kazhydromet, wind gusts in some areas will reach 28 meters per second, heavy rain and snow are expected in the mountains of the East Kazakhstan region, and extreme fire danger will persist in the west and south of the country, reports infohub.kz.
Weather in the north, east, and center of the republic will be determined by a northwestern cyclone. It will bring rain, and in the east, rain mixed with snow.
"Across the republic, wind strengthening and fog are expected," the forecast says.
In the Zhetisu region, wind gusts in the north and east will reach 15–20 meters per second, during the day at times 23–28 meters per second. In the Pavlodar region, during the day the wind will intensify to 15–20 meters per second, in the south and east gusts will reach 23–28 meters per second.
In the North Kazakhstan region, wind up to 15–20 meters per second is forecast, in the east and south up to 25 meters per second. Gusts up to 25 meters per second are also expected in the north, east, and south of the Abai region and the East Kazakhstan region. In the East Kazakhstan region, rain will fall, in the mountains rain and snow, at times heavy.
In the Karaganda, Akmola, and Kostanay regions, as well as in the mountains of the Zhambyl region, wind gusts will reach 15–20 meters per second.
In Karaganda, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Kokshetau, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk, wind up to 15–20 meters per second is also expected.
At night and in the morning, fog is expected in certain areas of the Karaganda, Mangystau, Aktobe, North Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Akmola, West Kazakhstan, and Kostanay regions. Fog is also forecast in the mountains of the Zhambyl region, in Aktau, Aktobe, and Uralsk.
Extreme fire danger will persist in the Kyzylorda region, in the west, south, and center of the Aktobe region and the Ulytau region, as well as in the south of the Atyrau region. In the Kyzylorda region, the warning covers the period from October 9 to 11, with high fire danger forecast in the north and center of the region.
High fire danger is expected in the Atyrau region, in the center of the Mangystau region, in the west, south, and east of the West Kazakhstan region, in the east of the Aktobe region and Zhetisu, as well as in the south of the Kostanay region.
Earlier, forecasters promised Kazakhstanis that after the first snow, the republic would sharply warm up to +27 degrees.
