An Indian court has ordered the replacement and repatriation of the crew of the arrested oil tanker Unity, which includes a Kazakh citizen among its sailors. The decision was made on October 6, according to infohub.kz.

The court's decision was initially reported by a relative of one of the crew members, who told RIA Novosti that the Indian side is obliged to ensure the replacement and repatriation of the sailors. The woman does not know the timeline for implementing the decision.

The information was later confirmed by the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata, as reported by TASS.

According to the ruling, Indian authorities are instructed to organize the disembarkation and repatriation of the sailors, as well as to ensure the replacement of the tanker's crew. Costs may be recovered from the shipowner. Specific deadlines for implementation have not yet been determined.

Recall that in September, media reports emerged that the vessel had 20 Russian citizens on board, as well as a Kazakh citizen and two Egyptian citizens. The Russian Consulate General in Kolkata clarified that the arrested oil tanker requires repairs, which is why it cannot continue its voyage.

After information appeared that a Kazakh citizen was on board the tanker, which was arrested back in May in India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan issued a statement. The ministry emphasized that a note had been sent.
