In Atyrau, Judge Zarema Khamidullina, who presided over the case of the Karabalin family deaths, explained why defendant Sultan Sarsemaliyev was sentenced to life imprisonment, reports the website dalanews.kz.
According to the judge, a forensic examination confirmed that the defendant is sane. During the trial, it was proven that he premeditated and intentionally killed four people.
"It has been fully proven that Sarsemaliyev intentionally killed four people between May and December 2025. In addition, after the victims' deaths, he committed several offenses, including fraud, theft, identity theft, and looting of their property," the judge said.
According to the investigation, the convict took out loans in the names of the deceased, sent messages to villagers pretending to be the deceased Nauryz, and fraudulently sold his livestock.
The court, taking into account all these circumstances, decided to permanently isolate Sultan Sarsemaliyev from society.
