Kazakhstan's best-selling SUVs in the first half of 2026 have been named. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado remains the undisputed leader of the segment, while Chinese models occupy three spots in the top five, according to infohub.kz.
From January to June 2026, Kazakhstani buyers purchased nearly 4,000 new frame SUVs from official dealers. Of those, 841 units were Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Prices start at 38.2 million tenge for the 2.7-liter version and reach 53 million tenge for the seven-seat variant with a 2.4-liter turbo engine. Sales data also includes the Land Cruiser Prado J150 with a 4-liter engine from 2022, which sat in storage for several years.
Second place went to the Chinese Tank 300, with 581 cars sold over six months. Prices range from 20 to 23.3 million tenge depending on trim. Buyers most often choose the classic part-time system with a front axle disconnect. Third place was unexpectedly taken by Russia's Lada Niva Legend, with dealers selling 500 cars priced between 7.8 and 8.3 million tenge. However, demand for the Lada may decline due to a sharp increase in recycling fees on Russian vehicle imports. If current conditions persist, warehouse stocks at today's prices will gradually dwindle.
Fourth most popular was the Haval H5, with 404 cars sold in six months. In Kazakhstan, the SUV costs 16.8–18.2 million tenge excluding special offers. Fifth place went to the Tank 500, with dealers moving 320 units. The model is available with a 3-liter engine in four trims priced between 27.8 and 33 million tenge.
Sixth place is the Haval H9 with 198 units sold. Next come Chevrolet Tahoe (177), Toyota Land Cruiser (162), and Lada Niva Travel (143). Lexus LX sales slumped sharply: while dealers sold 461 cars in the first half of 2025, only 137 were sold in the same period of 2026. The 70.3% drop dropped the model from third to tenth place. Tenth place: Lexus LX (137), eleventh: Lexus GX (101), twelfth: ROX 0195 (95), thirteenth: Infiniti QX80 (86), fourteenth: Cadillac Escalade (69), fifteenth: Range Rover (63).
Thus, in the first half of the year, Chinese frame SUVs took three spots in the top five most popular off-roaders, but the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado remains the absolute segment leader.
