In Astana, a 41-year-old man nearly drowned while attempting to swim across the Yesil River under the Arys Bridge. The incident occurred in the Saraishyk area, where rescuers on duty nearby noticed the drowning man and promptly pulled him out of the water, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the man overestimated his strength and could not reach the shore on his own. Fortunately, members of the operational rescue team were nearby and, upon seeing the incident, immediately reacted. Using a lifebuoy, they brought the swimmer to dry land.
The rescued man was born in 1985. After being pulled from the water, he was handed over to medics for examination and further observation.
In light of this incident, rescuers once again reminded residents and guests of the capital about the importance of following water safety rules. They urged people not to risk their lives and not to overestimate their abilities while swimming.
Earlier, it was reported that in the city of Zhitikara, Kostanay region, emergency workers saved a woman who began to drown while swimming in the Shortandy River. And in Semey, rescuers prevented an accident by assisting a man who was in the river while intoxicated.
