A shooting at a rave in northern Switzerland has left a 22-year-old woman dead and five others injured, prompting a manhunt for the perpetrator. The incident occurred in the town of Aarau, according to police, who said the woman died at the scene.
The injured, four men and a woman aged between 24 and 27, have been hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to severe. The shooting took place at a horse racing track in Aarau, where a rave was being held into the early hours of Sunday.
Police have stated that the perpetrator's identity and possible motives remain unknown, as do the exact circumstances of the incident. Local media reported that authorities were alerted to the shooting around 02:30 local time.
Swiss DJ Tekibo, who was performing at the annual techno event, said he lost a friend in the incident. In an Instagram post, he expressed that he was still trying to process what happened.
The Aargau Racing Club said the rave was overshadowed by a serious incident and thanked emergency services for their response. According to the organizers' website, up to 3,500 people were expected to attend.
Police have asked witnesses to submit photographs and video from the scene.
