Train services in Sydney have been disrupted this morning, causing delays for hundreds of commuters heading to work, according to infohub.kz.
Transport for NSW said that due to urgent overhead wiring repairs at Chatswood, trains on the North Shore line have been partially replaced by buses. Commuters have been warned that delays could last up to 45 minutes, and they are advised to use the Metro if possible.
According to Transport for NSW, limited bus services are replacing trains from Gordon to Chatswood only. An unscheduled rail shuttle service will run between Hornsby and Gordon in both directions. Trains that normally terminate at North Sydney and Berowra continue as scheduled, while services that normally start or end at Lindfield and Gordon will now start or end at North Sydney. Some services have been cancelled to reduce congestion and avoid longer delays.
The ABC reports that repair crews have been working through the night. A Sydney Trains spokesperson told local radio that passengers travelling from the north, such as through Hornsby, have options to travel via Strathfield or connect with the Metro at Epping. The spokesperson also noted that the T1 North Shore line is connected to the Western line, so reduced frequency is expected from the west as well.
The urgent repairs are also affecting the T1 Western line, intercity services, and the Central Coast line. Commuters are advised to check their travel schedules before departing.
