In the Syrym district of the West Kazakhstan region, 72 families whose only homes had been declared unfit for habitation have received new apartments. A ceremony to commission two three-storey buildings was held in the village of Zhympity, attended by regional head Nariman Turegaliyev, according to infohub.kz.
This year, the procedure for providing and allocating housing from the municipal housing stock to citizens whose only home has been declared unfit was updated. The relevant powers were again transferred to local executive bodies. Previously, housing for this category of citizens was provided through Otbasy Bank.
The regional head noted that expanding support mechanisms for residents of dilapidated buildings had made it possible to systematize work in this area and give it new momentum. By the end of the year, 50% of citizens in this category who are on the waiting list are to be provided with housing.
"In the people's constitution initiated by President Qasym-Jomart Kemelevich Toqaev, improving people's quality of life is defined as one of the main strategic directions of the state's development. In this regard, providing housing for the region's residents is one of the most important tasks. We pay special attention to increasing the volume of housing construction in rural areas. At the beginning of the year, about 600 citizens whose only home had been declared unfit were on the waiting list for housing. Some of them have already received new apartments in the regional center and in Zhangalinsky district. I congratulate the new residents who, on the eve of Republic Day, have received their long-awaited housing! I wish every family happiness, well-being and prosperity!" Nariman Turegaliyev said.
It should be noted that about 800 citizens are registered on the housing waiting list in the Syrym district. More than 160 of them have the status of citizens whose only home has been declared unfit. Next year, the keys to another 36 apartments will be handed to families in this category.
