A resident of the East Kazakhstan region traveled to Taldykorgan, rented a private house, and received a 10-year prison sentence for setting up an underground drug laboratory, infohub.kz reports.
According to the official website of the Jetisu region prosecutor's office, a specialized inter-district criminal court of the Jetisu region handed down a guilty verdict against a resident of the East Kazakhstan region. The man was found guilty of illegally manufacturing psychotropic substances on an especially large scale for sale, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.
It was established that in 2025, on the suggestion of individuals with whom he communicated via Telegram, the man arrived in Taldykorgan, where he rented a private house. According to the prosecutor's office, he set up an underground laboratory there for producing mephedrone.
During a search, more than 4.5 kg of the drug was discovered and seized.
Taking into account the nature and degree of public danger of the especially grave crime committed, the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
