A court in Taraz has reinstated a civil servant to the housing waiting list after he was removed due to a change in his residence registration, reports infohub.kz.

According to the official Telegram channel of the Zhambyl Regional Courts, the specialized inter-district administrative court considered the plaintiff's lawsuit against the Taraz city akimat's housing department and a bank, seeking to declare the housing commission's decision illegal and restore his place in the housing queue.

The plaintiff had been registered as in need of housing under the category "civil servant" since December 2017. In November 2024, the housing commission removed him from the list due to a change in his residence registration.

The court established that the change in registration was due to the sale of his house in Taraz, after which he had to register in the Zhualy district. The court confirmed that the plaintiff does not own any housing, continues to work as a civil servant, his category has not changed, and his need for housing remains.

The court concluded that the change in registration does not indicate that the plaintiff moved to another locality for permanent residence and is not grounds for removing him from the queue.

The court ruled that the part of the housing commission's protocol concerning the plaintiff's removal from the queue was illegal and overturned it. The defendants are obliged to restore the plaintiff to the housing queue with his original date of December 2017.

The decision has not yet entered into legal force.
