Court No. 2 in Taraz has sentenced a man convicted of distributing psychotropic substances through hidden stashes. He received 2,000 tenge per stash, paid to a cryptocurrency wallet, according to infohub.kz.
According to case files, in December 2025, the man contacted an unknown coordinator via Telegram and agreed to distribute drugs. He picked up packages from hidden caches and placed them in new locations in Taraz.
In February 2026, the man received a package in Almaty containing 37 zip-lock bags with α-PVP and transported them to Taraz. After he placed one of the packages in a hiding spot in the Shanyrak area, he was detained by police. A search found 11.58 grams of the psychotropic substance on him.
Under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code, the offense carries a sentence of 7 to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. The prosecutor requested a sentence of 5 years and 4 months, taking into account the Amnesty Law.
“The court found the man guilty of illegal acquisition and possession of psychotropic substances on a particularly large scale with intent to sell, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Taking into account the Amnesty Law, the final sentence was reduced to 4 years and 8 months,” the court's press service reported.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

The daughter received a real prison term, while her father, who was detained with 30 packages of synthetic drugs, had his sentence deferred.
