A driver who tried to flee from police has been detained in Taraz. It turned out that the man got behind the wheel while intoxicated, reports infohub.kz.
According to information posted on the official media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during patrol duty, police officers noticed a Toyota Carina whose driver violated traffic rules. The 33-year-old resident of Taraz did not respond to the lawful order to stop and attempted to flee. However, he failed to escape pursuit and was apprehended.
During the inspection, it was established that the driver was intoxicated, as confirmed by medical examination results. According to the offender, after a quarrel with his wife, he was angry, so he decided not to stop when police ordered him to and tried to escape through the city's backstreets.
Administrative charges were filed against the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol and for failing to comply with a police officer's lawful order to stop. By court decision, he was deprived of his driving license for 7 years and sentenced to 15 days of arrest.
Judging by the footage, the driver jumped out of the car, which had not even stopped completely, and ran. A police officer chased after him.
