A 35-year-old man in Taraz has been sentenced to one year in prison for intentionally causing moderate bodily harm to his ex-wife, with whom he had resumed living after their divorce, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the official Telegram channel of the courts of Zhambyl Region, an appellate court reviewed the criminal case under Part 1 of Article 107 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm).

Taraz Court No. 2 established that the convicted man and the victim had previously been legally married and resumed cohabiting after their divorce. In August 2025, a domestic dispute broke out between them. During the argument, the defendant struck the woman in the face several times, causing her to lose consciousness. She was diagnosed with a closed fracture of the arm.

In September 2025, when the woman reported pain in her arm and the need to seek medical help, her ex-husband began insulting her. During the quarrel, he pushed the victim and left the apartment with their young child.

The court of first instance found no mitigating or aggravating circumstances.

By the ruling of Taraz Court No. 2, the man was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 107 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 1 year in prison.

The convicted man appealed the court decision, asking for an acquittal. After reviewing the case materials, the appellate panel left the first-instance verdict unchanged. The court decisions have entered into legal force.
