A resident of Zhambyl district has been found guilty of illegally storing ammunition after a cartridge was discovered in her carry-on luggage during screening at Shymkent airport, and will pay a fine of 60,000 tenge, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the official Telegram channel of the courts of Zhambyl region, the specialized administrative offenses court of Taraz heard the case against a resident of Zhambyl district over the illegal storage of a cartridge (Part 1 of Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
In August 2026, the passenger intended to fly from Shymkent airport on the Shymkent — Zhezkazgan route. While passing through the screening area, staff found a 12-gauge cartridge for a smoothbore hunting weapon in her bag.
The woman's guilt was proven by the protocol, the testimony of the parties and the expert conclusion.
"In court, the woman admitted her guilt and explained that she had put the cartridge in her bag through carelessness and did not know how it got there," the court said.
According to the forensic examination conclusion, the cartridge was factory-made and suitable for firing.
The sanction under Part 1 of Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offenses provides for a fine for individuals of 20 monthly calculation indices.
Taking into account the admission of guilt, remorse, the fact that the offense was committed for the first time and the absence of aggravating circumstances, the court reduced the fine by 30%.
By court order, the woman was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offenses and fined 60,000 tenge. The seized cartridge is subject to destruction.
The order has entered into legal force.
