More than 3.8 million tonnes of waste have been collected and nearly 10,000 landfills cleared in Kazakhstan under the Taza Qazaqstan initiative, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Alibek Kuantyrov told President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev, infohub.kz reports.
The minister said more than 2,000 environmental events have been held across the country as part of the initiative.
Astana Akim Zhenis Kasymbek briefed the president on the improvement and greening of the capital. In recent years, around 500 courtyards and public spaces have been upgraded in the city. By the end of 2026, more than 170 additional courtyards and public areas, including parks, squares and boulevards, are planned to be improved.
In addition, a continuous green route is planned along the Yesil River to connect parks, walking and sports areas in different parts of the city.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Toqaev, together with young people and environmental activists, planted trees in the Presidential Park as part of the Taza Qazaqstan campaign. Cleanups of public spaces are also scheduled across all regions of the country on September 19 to mark World Cleanup Day.
