A scandal is brewing in the Kostanay region over a case of teen bullying. The Kostanay prosecutor's office disagrees with the court's decision and is demanding a review of the judicial act, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred in the city of Lisakovsk. A teenager fell victim to humiliation by peers, who filmed their actions on a phone. The bullying video apparently spread, causing widespread public outcry.
On August 12, the Specialized Interdistrict Juvenile Court of the Kostanay region considered an administrative case against the mother of one of the accused teenagers. The court terminated proceedings under Part 3 of Article 127 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, finding no administrative offense.
However, prosecutors deemed this decision erroneous and filed an appeal. As reported by the supervisory body, on August 25, 2026, the Kostanay prosecutor's office submitted a motion to the Kostanay Regional Court to review the adopted judicial act. Currently, the motion is under consideration by the appellate court.
The prosecutor's office emphasized that the final legal assessment of the circumstances of the case will be given by the court in accordance with the law. The public and the victim's parents await a fair decision.
