Tele2/Altel's mobile base stations carried more than 50 terabytes of internet traffic at Kazakhstan's largest events in 2026 — comparable to 22,000 hours of continuous Full HD streaming or more than 10 million high-quality smartphone photos, the website infohub.kz reports.
Company representatives said the operator continues to invest heavily in equipment for fast internet, which is now indispensable at any large-scale event. New base stations are appearing across Kazakhstan, and a strong digital infrastructure remains a priority. In total, the company plans to invest 400 billion tenge in infrastructure through 2030, meaning construction and modernization of the network will continue in both cities and rural areas.
This year the operator supported the biggest concerts, open-air events and digital forums — all the occasions where sharing digital content is possible and expected. In March, Tele2/Altel provided 5G at events in Astana and Shymkent. The capital hosted Digital Nauryz 2026, while the south hosted Digital Qazaqstan, the National Technology Forum of Kazakhstan.
Then came the season of major concerts and open-air festivals. Tele2/Altel provided 5G internet at the largest and most popular of them so that all of the operator's customers could enjoy their favorite tracks without worrying about paying for food and drinks at food courts or ordering a taxi. SOLΛNA, Rakhat Fest, Oyu fest, Toyla, Park Live and ALTAI FEST — during all these events the operator's mobile stations ran at full capacity so that photos and videos from the events reached their recipients instantly.
At Almaty's Central Stadium, Tele2/Altel installed new equipment that helped stage the year's two most spectacular concerts — those of Kanye West and Enrique Iglesias. The national operator then supported the Games of the Future 2026, an international phygital tournament in Astana that successfully blended esports and physical sport across 8 disciplines. In October it provided connectivity at AI & Digital Bridge 2026.
A modern innovation environment is shaped largely by infrastructure and digital solutions. For Tele2/Altel, supporting large-scale events is becoming a necessary response to growing challenges. Each major event requires forecasting the load, reinforcing infrastructure, adapting the network to the demands of a concert or forum and ensuring it runs stably at moments of peak user concentration. In this way Tele2/Altel is becoming more than just a telecom operator at major events — it is a technology partner of the largest events held in Kazakhstan.
