Founder of Telegram Pavel Durov has announced the launch of a built-in cryptocurrency wallet, Gram Wallet, which will be available to the messenger's users as early as this summer, according to infohub.kz.
Durov said this would be the largest rollout of a non-custodial crypto wallet in history. Once launched, over a billion Telegram users will be able to use the service.
"This summer, we will see a massive rollout of a non-custodial crypto wallet, the largest in human history," Durov said.
Durov also noted that users will be able to make cryptocurrency transfers instantly and without fees.
"Instant crypto transactions with zero fees for over a billion users are about to become a reality. We are introducing our own Gram wallet, which will be available in every Telegram app!" Durov said.
The Gram Wallet is expected to be integrated directly into the Telegram app, eliminating the need for users to install separate services for cryptocurrency operations. Details on supported digital assets and the exact launch date have not yet been disclosed.
