Ahead of the new school year, Temirtau has implemented a joint project by Qarmet and the city prosecutor's office aimed at improving child road safety, reports infohub.kz.
Special small architectural forms depicting schoolchildren have been installed near schools and at pedestrian crossings. The bright, life-sized figures are designed to draw drivers' attention to areas where children regularly cross the road and remind them to slow down in advance.
In total, 62 such figures have been installed in Temirtau by September 1. The new road safety elements have appeared near School No. 20, the Women's Gymnasium, School-Lyceum No. 14, Schools No. 9, 11, 16, 19, and other educational institutions in the city.
Special attention has been paid to schoolchildren's routes: the figures are placed near pedestrian crossings, road signs, and on approaches to the roadway. Some of the figures have reflective elements, making the silhouette of a child more visible to drivers at night.
"The main goal of the project is to once again draw the attention of drivers to the safety of the youngest road users. With the start of the school year, traffic intensity near schools traditionally increases, so it is especially important for drivers to observe the speed limit and be extremely careful when approaching pedestrian crossings," noted the Temirtau prosecutor's office.
The joint initiative by Qarmet and the Temirtau prosecutor's office has become another practical step towards creating a safer urban environment. It is symbolic that the project was implemented by September 1, when thousands of schoolchildren again take to their usual routes from home to school every day.
The work is primarily aimed at preventing road accidents and fostering a responsible attitude among drivers towards child safety. A safe road to school begins with the attention of every road user.
