In a school near Bangkok, Thailand, a shooting incident resulted in seven deaths, including the suspected attacker. This marks the country's deadliest mass shooting since 2022. According to police, the victims included the suspect's grandparents.
The incident occurred at the prestigious Debsirin Nonthaburi school in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province. Arsit Sampantharat, the permanent secretary of the interior ministry, stated that the suspect was a student at the school. He remained inside the school after the attack began.
Footage from the scene showed people comforting each other outside the school while police and rescue workers were inside the building. The building appeared to have been secured, but the suspect's status had not been officially confirmed.
Witnesses reported that students hid in a classroom after hearing gunshots from another building, and later police officers knocked on the door and escorted them to safety.
According to district authorities, the school had approximately 3,100 students and 147 teachers in the 2025 academic year. The school is part of the Debsirin network, founded by the Thai royal family. Its alumni include prime ministers, scholars, and writers.
